Sustainability
The Haus der Natur is committed to climate action and sustainability, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As one of the most visited museums in Salzburg—and all of Austria—with around 325,000 visitors each year, the Haus der Natur plays a leading role in promoting environmental awareness. We are especially proud of the large number of children and young people who visit daily. It is with these younger generations that we focus on building awareness for sustainable living.
Sustainability isn’t just something we talk about in our exhibits and educational programs—it’s something we practice every day. That’s why we’re working to make the museum more climate-friendly and energy-efficient in its infrastructure, operations, and long-term planning.
How can you help?
Please choose environmentally friendly ways to get here!
The Haus der Natur is located in the heart of Salzburg’s Old Town and is easy to reach by public transport, on foot, or by bike. Covered bicycle racks are available right outside the entrance.
Please sort your waste into the correct bins—there are plenty of them throughout the museum.
Whenever possible, take the stairs instead of the elevator to help save energy.
