Discover a fascinating world from 154 million years ago, when Europe was still made up of many tropical islands in a shallow sea. Along the way, meet the little Europasaurus, a unique creature of that era.

The Europasaurus, a herbivorous dinosaur, is one of Europe’s most fascinating species. Although it belonged to the sauropods – the long-necked dinosaurs and the largest land animals of all time – it remained significantly smaller than its imposing relatives. In our exhibition, you’ll discover fascinating details about the life of this ‘dwarf dinosaur’: Why was it so small? What did it eat? How did it raise its young? What did its home look like – and what did it smell like? Come and visit us and immerse yourself in the world of the Europasaurus!

We’ll show you what palaeontologists – scientists who study prehistoric times – can deduce from a single bone find, and how modern technology helps them do so.

Spectacular finds from Austria and local fossils that you can touch in the exhibition bring a long-gone era in Austria to life.

In the DinoLab, everyone can become a researcher themselves: uncover fossils, assemble dinosaur skeletons and bring digital prehistoric animals to life. At our hands-on stations, you’ll have the chance to experience the fascinating research into Europasaurus up close and play an active part in it. Make the most of this exciting opportunity to discover science in a lively way!

The special exhibition will run until October 2028.
