Christian Doppler Schau

New Science Center-style exhibition, opened in 2008!
Mathematics and physics genius Christian Andreas Doppler (1803-1853) was born in Salzburg. The so-called Doppler effect, the discovery named after him, moves the world today more than ever. In modern medicine, the Doppler effect is made use of to examine processes inside the human body. Navigation aids and measuring systems worldwide are based on the Doppler effect and help increase safety in air travel and road traffic. The Big Bang Theory of an expanding universe is based on Doppler's discovery.
A large hall in the Haus der Natur has been dedicated to Christian Doppler for decades. Now, under the management of the Christian Doppler Fonds, the installations have been fundamentally modernized and extended by clear hands-on Science Center-style experiments.
