'Haus der Natur' - Nature Museum and Competence Centre
The Haus der Natur (founded in 1924) is the local natural history museum of Salzburg. It houses a large exhibition about all aspects of nature, a Science Center, an aquarium and a reptile-zoo. With our exhibitions we attempt to inspire our visitors, to stimulate their interest in the natural world and to enhance their understanding for natural processes. As a Nature competence centre the Haus der Natur plays an important role in the scientific exploration and documentation of nature in Salzburg.
Wheelchair users
In the Altstadtgarage car park you find parking spaces for disabled persons (§29b disability ID card).
Although the Haus der Natur is located in an historic building, major renovation has allowed to provide unrestricted wheelchair access to all parts of the museum:
At the main entrance an access ramp has been installed for the convenience of wheelchair users. Two lifts accommodating wheelchairs allow access to all floors. Both the space hall and reptile zoo are accessible by stair lift.
Toilets for disabled persons are located on the ground floor (Main Building and Science Building) and 1st floor (coffee restaurant).
In case you need help, our floor attendants are there to assist you.
Reduced admission rate with disability ID card
If you show your disability ID card at the admission desk, you are eligible for a reduced admission fee (general information on admission fees).
Blind and vision impaired persons
You are welcome to bring your assistance dog to the Haus der Natur.
