Aquarium

<p>The main attraction is our 60 000 litre tank home to a coral reef teeming with soft corals and fish from the Indo-Pacific region, including surgeon fishes, angel fishes and butterfly fishes as well as various sea basses and a black-tipped reef shark. This community is immensely impressive due to its beauty and harmony.</p>

The aquarium is one of the special highlights of our museum. It comprises 42 show tanks of various sizes, up to a water volume of 60 000 litres. We keep animals from tropical coral reefs, tropical waters of Africa, South America and Southeast Asia but also from Central Europe. Our unique tanks dedicated to animal life of the Mediterranean sea contain an extraordinary species diversity. Due to aesthetically pleasing, near-nature tanks and the best possible water quality and nutrition the animals reach a great age. The aquarium is a place for observation, for the visitor to become familiar with the incredible wealth, the beauty and unique behaviour of the animal species in our care.
