Animals of the World

Our extensive collection documents the faunal diversity present in the different habitats of the Earth. The journey takes you to all continents and makes you familiar with their peculiar and mysterious creatures from duck-billed platypus to ant-eater. Some of these fascinating animals have already become extinct, which emphasizes that environmental protection will have to remain a key issue in the future.
In addition, our ethnological collection illustrates the life of the similarly threatened native peoples such as the Auca and Jivaro of South America.
A permanent exhibition is dedicated to the deserts of the world, with a main focus on the Sahara and Kalahari - including a precious homage to the dying out bushman people.
